Before I start writing further, this is not a crystal museum. It's more like a fantasy land created by leading artists and designers with Swarovski crystals. This unique crystalline theater is Austria's second most visited museum.
This land/museum first opened in 1995 for the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the Swarovski Company. This wondrous world, created by artist Andre Heller is situated in the seven chambers of a cave at the entrance of which you will be greeted by a giant with crystal eyes and crystal-clear water running out of its mouth.
In 2003 and 2007 the so called home of the crystals became extended with new chambers. More than 8 million people have been enchanted by this world of experiences encompassing the full spectrum of art, music, dance and literature.
Once you enter the Crystal world, you will be surrounded by galleries and expositions dedicated to crystals. Part of it is a three dimensional projection called "The Planet of Crystals." The Crystal world offers entertainment for kids, such as the Theater of Crystals and numerous crystal figurine characters. The expertly selected lighting creates an atmosphere of a fairly tale world. Here you can enjoy all kinds of crystals, from the smallest to a giant ones, which are both in the Guinness book of records.
You will also have the opportunity for shopping, roaming around, and have a coffee break, where you can sit and relax surrounded by the colorful beauty of crystals.
That is a place I would love to visit someday!
